How to read the USB bandwidth indicator

The USB bandwidth indicator is located in the lower left-hand corner of the Device Control Panel and is designed to provide visual feedback of your allocated USB resources for the connected microscope. This functionality is only available to QX5, QX3/QX3+, and MiScope users.

No USB bandwidth has been allocated. Either no microscope is connected, the application is looking for a different microscope than the one connected, or the microscope failed initialization.

Lowest

A thin black border around the USB bandwidth indicator represents the microscope is connected to a USB 2.0 hub and the hub is connected to a USB 2.0 port on the Mac.

If the USB bandwidth indicator is indicating less than maximum, image quality or performance may be affected. If the microscope is connected to a USB 1.1 or 2.0 hub, try connecting the microscope directly to a USB port on your Mac. If you are using USB speakers or a USB radio device your performance may be affected.
